🌸Sumida Park🌸
Expected full bloom on March 27
This is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot selected as one of the 100 Famous Cherry Blossom Spots!
It is said that the beginning was when cherry trees were planted by the 4th shogun, Tokugawa Ietsuna, during the Edo period. Records show that in 1717 (the 2nd year of Kyōhō), the 8th shogun, Tokugawa Yoshimune, added 100 more cherry trees. Today, there are about 300 cherry trees planted on the Sumida Ward side and about 600 on the Taitō Ward side across the river.
