Tango no Sekku (May 5th) is a traditional event wishing for the healthy growth and well-being of boys.
Originating from an ancient Chinese ritual to ward off evil, this event has been held in the Japanese Imperial Court since the Heian period. From the Kamakura period onward, it became associated with the samurai culture and evolved into the "Shobu" festival, celebrating the growth of boys.

In present-day Japan, there is a custom of decorating with samurai armor and helmets called Gogatsu dolls, hanging carp streamers, taking a bath with iris leaves for warding off evil, and celebrating by eating kashiwa mochi and chimaki.

We sincerely hope that all your children will grow up healthy and strong from now on 🎏
