Good evening, everyone🌕
It's hard to believe that we are already approaching September in 2024.
September means the full moon night... It's the moon viewing season.
Do you know the roots of the Moon Viewing festival?
The custom of admiring the Mid-Autumn Moon seems to have been seen since the records of the Tang Dynasty in ancient China.
It seems that the roots of moon viewing can be traced back to the Heian period when it spread among the aristocracy.
In the Heian period story 'The Tale of Genji' written by Murasaki Shikibu, there is also a 'Moon Banquet.'
It is noted that there was a party enjoying drinks and music.
I think that the moon viewing culture did not originate in Japan, but was brought over from abroad.
It may not have changed much from the past to the present.
