[November Edo Side Dishes]
Notice
We would like to introduce the monthly Edo side dishes served at our hotel's breakfast.
Simmered Taro
The word "imo" (potato) commonly referred to taro, a familiar and important vegetable widely used from daily meals and events, and even as medicine.
Also, it was beloved as a very inexpensive and common ingredient, and for the common people of the Edo period, taro was a versatile food that was thoroughly consumed using every cooking method—not only in simmered dishes but also to "bulk up staple foods," "grill," "fry," and in "soups," leaving nothing wasted.
Even izakayas called "Imozakaya" (potato taverns) appeared.
Please enjoy it.
